Davisville Village

Davisville Village Real Estate

Boundaries
Situated south of Eglington and north of Davisville, it stretches west of Yonge St. to Bayview Ave.

History
This neighbourhood has a rich history that starts with John Davis, who was originally from Staffordshire, England and immigrated to Canada. He was the first postmaster here and the neighbourhood was named after him. He helped in the establishment of the local public schools and the largest employer in the village, the Davis Pottery.

In the 1860's Davisville’s southern part was subdivided. The village’s northern division was owned by the Church and remained undeveloped until the early 20th century. The Dovercourt Land and Building Company bought the land and proceeded to develop it into what is now known as Lawrence Park.

Neighbourhood Characteristics
Davisville Village in Toronto is a unique blend of peace and nature in the midst of a bustling city. The neighbourhood attracts families with young children due to its collection of private and public schools, and many playgrounds and parks. There is an outstanding library and convenient access to the subway.

Many of the apartment buildings and homes were developed in and around the 1940’s, however many new larger homes are replacing these original homes. Davisville has an incredible amount of open green space, in fact it has more green space than the vast majority of other Toronto neighbourhoods. The area is intersected by the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. And is surrounded by a wonderful ravine system, which allows many residents to open their back door to wilderness.
