Rosedale Real Estate

Boundaries
Rosedale is bounded by the CPR railway tracks to the north, Yonge Street to the west, Bloor Street to the south, and Bayview Avenue to the east.

History
It was in the early nineteenth century that Sheriff  Jarvis first settled in South Rosedale with his wife Mary. Rosedale was infact named by by his wife for the abundance of rose bushes that graced their estate. The area was sold to developrs in the mid nineteenth century. It wasn’t until the beinning of the 20th century that construction began in North Rosedale with the building of a bridge across the local ravine. Before heavy development the city established an all boys boarding school, college, and the golf club in the area.

Neighbourhood Characteristics
Rosedale is one of the most posh neighbourhoods in city. It is partitioned into Rosedale North and Rosaedale South by a ravine. It is arguably the city’s most exclusive and elite neighbourhood, housing the wealthiest famility in Toronto. The area has become famous for its its old English styled mansions harking back to the late nineteenth and early 20th century. The neighbourhood is also in a fabulous location since it is only steps away from downtown.

One thing that is apparent when driving through Rosedale is the winding nature of the streets. This emerged as a result of the trails left by Mrs. Jarvis while on horseback. This unique  street layout is loved by residents because it greatly restricts traffic.

Currently, South Rosedale is home to Branksome Hall an elite all-girls school. There is also a wonderful public schools located in Central Rosedale which is just a stones throw away from the local community centre.

Mayfair is a fantastic local community event held in one of the local parks.  Usually it occurs on the first Saturday of May and all proceeds from the event go to fund by the local community centre.
